Gaebriel Ethiopis Tafara, (known as Gabi’), is an Ethiopian-American/Dutch player currently a member of the Bethesda Soccer Academy – playing in the highest U-17 division in the USA (Development Academy level). Gaebriel plays in the midfield in the 6, 8 or 10 position, best deployed in a creative role.
His ambition is now to test himself at the highest European level for his age group. Scouting has resulted in try out periods for clubs such as Benfica, Sporting and Brondby.
Gaebriel has gained a reputation as a gifted left-footed midfielder with uncommon technique and vision. Possessed with a full range of passing skills – from long to short, to delicate or driven, his style of play is reminiscent of a combination of Enzo Francescoli, Fernando Redondo and Nemanja Matic, with the ability to influence matches in the manner of Sergi Busquets. He is also possessed of a powerful shot that makes him a serious scoring threat.
His size combined with his touch make him a handful in the midfield and his technique and reading of the game allow him to influence the flow of matches.
A real talent and potential bright light of US or Dutch football.
